Gabby goes to her Blue School

Last Saturday was Gabby Gal’s Nursery Orientation. Gabby was dressed in her best blue dress and shoes! She was really excited about it.
Once we arrived, we were actually expecting her to be overwhelmed by crowd but nope .. Gabby gal was happy. She said a cheerful “hi” to d teachers and even let me try on a few sets of uniforms for her. She was smiley and obliging to any requests !

Thereafter, all d children and parents were asked to join d teachers for a short interaction session. D kids were treated to songs, dances and story-telling. It was real funny when the teachers wanted d children to participate and asked the kids to suggest any songs eveyone could sing together. One little boy suggested “winnie the pooh”, the teacher said “oh .. they dunno and not everyone knows!” And yet another boy asked for “Bob the Builder” but the teachers said “no one knows” Nya.. I think they clearly hasnt watched “Playhouse Disney”! All these kids probably know all these songs better than them! And guess what, the foolproof song the teacher played …. “Twinkle Twinke Little Star” !! :S

At this point, Gabby was following whatever the actions the teachers were doing and she was laughing her way. Indeed, she was sitting attentively and listening to the teacher’s story telling sessions. Many a time, we could see her trying to get up and follow the naughty boys jumping around but each time they did that, the teachers would ask them to sit down and so Gabby decided she shall just be a good gal and sit down. Well .. the only time she was restless or into her own world …. was d Mandrain Story Telling Session! She did not understand a single word and you could see her staring blankly! All d other kids were no better! I think all d parents have neglected that part of it. U could see the Chinese Teacher struggling to attract the kids’ attention! And when she asked questions, everything wasanswered in English!

After the stories, it was time for some art & crafts for each level. Gabby’s class was to make a X’mas Stocking and she told d teacher she wanted a Blue one! And the 2 of us were hard at work sticking stars and balls on the stockings. Well .. Gabby is a bit like me … she isnt exposed to that traditional sticky glue and so she was rather apprehensive getting her hands sticky and dirty. I hated that slimy feeling as well. But thats exactly the teachers’ motive, to them used to these as thats one of the activity they would be doing. Hence, to show her, I had to also get my hands all messed up. “) She kept telling the teacher she needed to wash her hands! But we managed to accomplished our art b4 we went to d washroom! And she was really proud of it! Check it out! She even insisted of bringing it over to show her small kong kong and ah ma later! And these few days she has been holding her stockings wherever she goes and she wsa careful not to spoil it. You could see a sense of accomplishment in little Gabby.

And she heard the teacher saying that after finishing the Art & Craft … the kids can have some Milo & sandwiches refreshment. So … she asked the teacher for her Milo after she finished and washed her hands!
After her milo, it was time to leave. And Gabby concluded her day to school by saying ” Gabby enjoyed herself”
